SCHOOL NURSE   

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Student Services

 

Job SUMMARY:  The employee identifies and treats health disorders among students and provides instruction in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention. The employee must evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate resources as needed. Decisions made by this employee require discretionary judgment and analysis. Errors may not be easily discernible and may result in serious impact on the individual child and others. The work of this employee is seldom reviewed while in progress under general supervision.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  10 months, with salary to be established on the North Carolina State Salary Schedule.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  At minimum, the person shall: (1) Be licensed as a registered nurse under Chapter 90, Article 9A of the General Statutes and have at least two years of experience serving as a nurse in a hospital or health clinic; or (2) Be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.
