Job Title: Communication Teacher

Job Overview: The Communication Teacher is responsible for educating students in various aspects of communication, including verbal, non-verbal, written, and digital communication. This role involves creating a dynamic learning environment that fosters critical thinking, effective communication skills, and an understanding of media literacy. The teacher will lead students in hands-on projects such as creating podcasts, school newsletters (both paper and digital), digital products, and the school’s 2024-25 yearbook.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development:
    • Design and implement lesson plans that cover various communication methods and media literacy.
    • Incorporate projects that engage students in practical applications of communication skills.
  2. Instruction:
    • Teach verbal and non-verbal communication courses, writing techniques, and digital media production.
    • Utilize interactive teaching methods to encourage student participation and collaboration.
  3. Project Leadership:
    • Guide students in creating engaging podcasts that reflect their understanding of communication principles.
    • Oversee the production of the school’s newsletters, ensuring content is relevant and well-crafted.
    • Coordinate the development of digital products, integrating technology into communication projects.
    • Lead the planning and execution of the 2024-25 school yearbook, including content creation, design, and publication.
  4. Assessment and Feedback:
    • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and project outcomes.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and improvement.
  5. Student Engagement:
    • Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity and open dialogue.
    • Organize workshops and guest speaker events related to various fields of communication.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about the latest trends in communication, education technology, and media literacy.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
  7. Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to integrate communication projects across the curriculum.
    • Involve students in community outreach projects to apply their communication skills in real-world contexts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Teaching certification or licensure.
  • Experience in media production, journalism, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with digital tools and software related to media production.
