Job Summary:  

 

The Lead Teacher will work within their grade level to support student learning in all content areas.  This position will not have a homeroom class, but is responsible for ensuring the growth of every student in the grade. The Lead Teacher will ensure that all students are provided access to research-based, effective instruction.  The Lead Teacher will analyze student data to identify trends and develop systems that address student needs.  The Lead Teacher will support the growth of his or her colleagues into strong, career teachers.  This position is for one year, and the Lead Teacher will receive additional compensation of $10,000 upon completion of the year. 



Job Goals:  

 

  • Create positive relationships with Teachers and Administrators that contribute to a successful and collaborative team culture.
  • Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance and improved classroom environments.
  • Assist Teachers to make instructional and classroom environment decisions based on data and culturally responsive practices.
  • Work with Teachers to create instructional materials in alignment with curriculum.
  • Support Teachers to maximize curriculum resources, products, and classroom technologies.
  • Facilitate effective and meaningful student data analysis.
  • Support and evaluate instructional program implementation to ensure positive student impact through a comprehensive core of instruction.

 

Job Functions:  

    

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and content.
  • Develop specific classroom activities like unit planning or workstation development as needed
  • Provide support for student motivation and classroom management.
  • Facilitate PLC’s that support identification of students in need of tiered interventions.
  • Identify and develop resources for Tier 2 / 3 interventions as appropriate. 
  • Monitor interventions and the MTSS process by observing and meeting with teachers and facilitating team decisions.
  • Ensure that interventions are implemented using a shared / collaborative model to support and provide interventions
  • Model lessons.
  • Participate in workshops / conferences / and professional development to learn about new resources and innovative instructional strategies.



Required Qualifications:  [An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered].

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • North Carolina Teaching Certificate
  • Demonstrated school leadership experience
  • 5 or More Years of Teaching Experience



Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Experience as an Instructional Coach or related role
  • Ability to demonstrate students can exceed growth on EVAAS
  • Reading or Math Specialist Certification
  • National Board Certification
  • Master’s Degree in Education
