REPORTS TO: GCPS Early Childhood Coordinator / FGV Smart Start

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months, with salary to be determined on the local salary schedule.

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is a grant-funded home-visiting program designed to strengthen families of children from birth through kindergarten. Program goals include preventing child abuse and neglect, increasing parent knowledge of early childhood development, improving parenting practices, increasing school readiness, and providing early detection of developmental delays and health issues.

The PAT Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program guidelines, direct program management, and budget. The coordinator performs administrative and daily operational functions through interaction with a Granville County Public Schools’ supervisor, PAT families, Parents as Teachers National Center (PATNC) administration, FGV Smart Start staff, and PAT program staff.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer the PAT program following national and state PAT requirements and guidelines.
  • Engage community leaders in support of PAT
  • Build relationships with community resources for program and
  • Advocate for the program, parent educators and families.
  • Obtain and maintain certification as a parent educator and supervisor through PATNC.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of budget and
  • Develop and maintain a system for organized record keeping for local state and national reports.
  • Conduct team meetings
  • Provide information to staff on district, state, and national policies and procedures as
  • Provide ongoing training for staff and provide opportunities for professional development of all staff.
  • Provide documentation of parent connections, playgroups, home visits, screenings, and resource networking as required.
  • Supervise staff as required to meet district, state and national guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with FGV Smart Start (the program’s grantor)
  • Prepare the mid-year and end of year reports as directed by FGV Smart Start and the national PAT

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required - Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood, education, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field
  • Preferred - Experience managing a budget and staff; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adults and young children

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer use skills (word processing; spreadsheets; ability to learn required programs)
  • Personal transportation for family visits and program needs
